Achieving huge savings as Specsavers’ temporary MSP provider

We became Specsavers’ temporary MSP provider in 2016, managing c.100 workers at any one time and over £1,000,000 savings within the first three years, with near 100% direct fulfilment. We are Specsavers’ leading permanent supplier delivering niche skills, including but not limited to Cloud, DevOps, Software Development, Digital, E-Commerce, Project Management and Business Analysis. Forming a solution for sourcing generalist skills

Formaplex had a number of highly niche skill set needs but also required a large volume of ‘shop floor’ factory blue collar workers. Whilst we succeeded in delivering Formaplex’s niche-skilled roles, it quickly became apparent that our first tier, Matchtech, were not able to adequately support Formaplex with these blue collar ’24 hour shift roles’ in the quantity needed. While Matchtech had a General Engineering team set up, who are experienced in delivering blue-collar skills, they found that the type of roles were not within their core strength and were better suited to a more traditional high-street recruiter.  

Following a full review of management information and our sourcing approach, our Formaplex Solution team addressed this by proposing a hybrid model which Formaplex were in complete agreement with.  

The solution team sourced a proven supplier and negotiated a deal whereby the supplier was offered the master vendor for this skill set. We now pass all 24-hour shift roles directly to them; in addition they are able to conduct their own contractor care.

Ashton is a seasoned Talent Solutions Director at Gattaca Solutions, bringing over 16 years of expertise in delivering innovative RPO and MSP services across diverse industries. Starting as an account coordinator in 2008, Ash advanced through roles to become an accomplished Account Director, with six years’ experience leading teams to deliver successful client programmes, across a variety of industries and a range of clients, including many household names.
